Gilmour Academy is excited to partner with the Cleveland Ballet to bring world-class dance instruction to our community!
The School of Cleveland Ballet, formerly named the Cleveland School of Dance, is dedicated to being part of today’s cultural scene in America through the art of dance, music and most important, the dance student.
The School of Cleveland Ballet is committed to inspiring its students, providing high quality instruction and a solid dance syllabus.
Gilmour Academy offers group ballet/jazz dance taught by top-tier faculty members from the School of the Cleveland Ballet. Our teaching artists are the top of the field locally, nationally and internationally.
Classes will be held in the Black Box studio of The Lorraine and Bill Dodero Center for  Performing Arts on the campus of Gilmour Academy. Beginning with the Winter 2021 season of Arts at the Academy, two, 7-week sessions will be offered beginning January 26, 2021. Dancers of all skill levels in Grades 1-7 are welcome!

  • Katharine Cowan

    Photo of Katharine CowanKatharine grew up in Olympia, Washington. She began her formal dance training when she was 3 years old and studied under Studio West Dance Academy and Theatre Director Stephanie Wood.
    Katharine has danced in roles such as Sugar Plum, Cinderella, and Giselle as well as new works choreographed by Laura and Jerome Tisserand, Dawn Fay, and Joseph Jefferies. During her years in training, she also attended summer programs at Boston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Austin Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, and Alonzo King LINES. After high school, Katharine continued her training under Raymond Rodriguez at the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago where she completed Joffrey’s two-year trainee program. While at Joffrey, Katharine was chosen to perform in the Joffrey Academy’s Winning Works Program, performing new works by choreographers including Claudia Schreier, Edgar Zendejas, Brendan Fernandes, and Marissa Osato. In Chicago she also had the opportunity to choreograph works on the Joffrey trainees and studio company as a part of the “Young Moves” choreography program.
    This is Katharine’s second year as an artist with the Cleveland Ballet company and her first year as an instructor at the school. She is very excited to work with the students at the Cleveland ballet school.
  • Madison Campbell

    Photo of Madison CampbellMadison is in her fifth season with Cleveland Ballet. She started ballet at the age of 10 at Capital City Dance Center, located in Des Moines, Iowa. She then went on to train at Miami City Ballet School and The School of Pennsylvania Ballet. After training in Miami Beach and Philadelphia, she became a trainee at Nashville Ballet and then a trainee with Cleveland Ballet.
    Some of her favorite roles/ballets while at Cleveland Ballet have been Gladisa Guadalupe’s "Nutcracker," "Provocativo," and "Momentum," and Margo Sappington’s "Alice." Cleveland is Madison’s home and Cleveland Ballet is family.
  • Troy Greenfield

    Photo of Troy GreenfieldTroy’s love of dance started at 6 years old and she became a professional dancer at the age of 19. Her dance career has taken her all over the United States and around the world. Some highlights include performing in two Chicago-based dance companies, acting in industrial films, dancing in commercials, and performing as a world-famous Radio City Rockette for more than nine years.
    As a trained dancer, she has an extensive background in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and modern (Horton and Dunham) techniques. Troy’s experience as a professional dancer and extensive dance training enhances her abilities as a teacher. Dance is an enormous part of her life and she really enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of dance with dancers of all ages.
