About GA
Gilmour Academy is a Catholic, independent, coeducational college-preparatory school that was founded in 1946 by the Brothers of Holy Cross from Notre Dame, Indiana. The campus occupies 144 acres in Gates Mills, Ohio, an eastern suburb of Cleveland.
We offer a Montessori Preschool Program, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School. Our boarding program is offered in Grades 7 through 12 and attracts students from across the United States and around the world.
We are uniquely able to offer a coeducational independent school education that inspires the academic, social and spiritual needs of our students. Our foundation in Holy Cross values permeates life at Gilmour.
Our community is diverse and we welcome students from a wide variety of cultures, faith traditions and backgrounds. Students participate in community service from the earliest grades to gain a deeper understanding of Gilmour’s mission, to “develop the competence to see and the courage to act in creating a more humane and just society.”
Our extracurricular offerings include a nationally recognized speech and debate program, and opportunities for students to explore varied interests, from the arts to the environment to leadership and service.
Gilmour’s athletic program is one of the most comprehensive in the state of Ohio, offering 23 varsity sports, with the only Girls Prep Hockey team in the state. From the Lower School to the Upper School, Gilmour students find many teams and sports in which to participate.
