Head Coach Varsity Football Squad
2nd Season (2014-15)
Elizabeth Scheurman is in her second year as the head coach of the Gilmour Academy football cheerleading squad and is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) certified coach. Prior to Gilmour, she was the head coach of the cheerleading program at Forest Park Middle School for five years. She was a cheerleader herself for seven years, including three at the high school varsity level in which her squad participated in local high school competitions.
She is a graduate of Euclid High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University in middle childhood education, as well as a master’s degree in instructional technology from the University of Akron. Scheurman is in her 10th year of teaching in the Euclid City Schools.
Head Coach Varsity Basketball Squad
8th Season (2013-14)
Chris Catanese is in her eighth season as the head coach of the Gilmour Academy varsity basketball cheerleading squad and previously served as an assistant coach with the varsity football cheerleading squad for five years. She is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) certified coach and is a judge for cheerleading tryouts at several area high schools. While at Gilmour, she has directed the squad in front of audiences beyond the Gilmour community, showcasing the team’s talents at the American Cheer Idol competition at the IX Center, as well as at Quicken Loans Arena for a Lake Erie Monsters hockey game and a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball pregame show.
Catanese was a cheerleader for six years at the varsity level, as well as a competitive gymnast for seven years. The current resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio, has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo. She and her husband, John, have four sons, Ryan (25) and Robert (20) – both graduates of Gilmour, Joseph (18) a current Gilmour senior, and Vinny (12) a student at Gesu Catholic School.
