Teaching the Whole Child
Gilmour students are multi-faceted: scholars, athletes, artists, leaders and friends. They are also young people on a journey of faith. Students of all ages at Gilmour, from Montessori PreK through grade 12, are immersed in a Catholic, Holy Cross environment that respects, and encourages spiritual development. Hospitality and inclusion are key Holy Cross values that enable students, teachers, administrators, and staff to grow on their lifelong spiritual journeys within their diverse faith traditions.
Gilmour nurtures its Catholic students through instruction in Catholic beliefs, practice, and values. Students grow to understand and appreciate the sacraments through learning about and practicing them. Holy Cross values are lived in every grade level as students explore their meaning and participate in activities designed to educate their minds and hearts such as Masses, retreats, service projects, and holiday observances.
Gilmour welcomes students and their families who are not Catholic into its community. By learning in a diverse and inclusive atmosphere, students learn to walk in faith with each other in ways that are respectful and appreciative. Through collaborating on service projects and participating in discussions about their beliefs they move towards fulfilling the Gilmour mission of creating a more humane and just society.
The lessons that religion teaches us do not stop at the door of the religion classroom or Our Lady Chapel. Teachers in all departments strive to infuse the Holy Cross traditions and the values upon which Gilmour Academy is based into our courses and classrooms.
