Assistant Varsity Coach/ Head Junior Varsity Coach
9th Season (2013-14)
Jim Galloway is in his ninth year as a member of the Gilmour Academy girls basketball coaching staff serving as an assistant coach with the varsity team, as well as the head coach of the junior varsity team. He is also in his fifth year as the head coach of the Lancer softball team after serving as an assistant coach with the program for four seasons. His relationship with current Lancer varsity girls basketball head coach Bob Beutel dates back several years earlier when the two coached together at Eastlake North High School. Galloway was an assistant at North with the girls basketball program from 1999-2005.
A graduate of Euclid High School, Galloway played basketball for the Panthers and was an All-Ohio pitcher for the baseball team that went to the state finals during the 1978-79 season. He went on to play baseball at Bowling Green State University before earning a bachelor’s degree in communication.
Galloway currently resides in Willowick, Ohio, with his wife of 26 years, Terri. They have three children, Kathleen, Erin and Joey, who are all graduates of Gilmour. Galloway is employed as an investigator with the Ohio Attorney General – a position he has held for 16 years. He also volunteers with youth ministry for St. Mary Magdalene and is a volunteer coach and official for the City of Willowick’s youth basketball and baseball leagues.
Assistant Varsity/ Junior Varsity Coach
2nd Season (2013-14)
Rob Koelling is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Gilmour Academy girls basketball program after having been involved with high school girls basketball for several years prior. He came to Gilmour with experience as a varsity girls assistant at Hathaway Brown School (2011-12), a varsity girls assistant and head freshman coach at Chardon High School (2010-11), a varsity girls assistant at Mentor High School (2008-10), as well as various coaching roles within the Mentor Schools from 2005-10, including head coaching roles at the junior high level for both boys and girls.
As a player, Koelling attended Mentor High School and was a two-year letterman. He served as a senior team captain when the Cardinals went 10-0 as the Lake Erie League champions. He was selected as a Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches Association All Star and played in the News-Herald Classic All-Star game, where he also won the 3-Point shootout.
Koelling has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Cleveland State University and is pursuing a health education degree. He is employed as a physical education teacher at Andrews Osborne Academy and currently resides in Mentor, Ohio.
