Prep Hockey Team

Congratulations to the Gilmour Boys Prep Hockey team which won the U18 Mid-Am District Championship that included teams from Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. By winning this event, the Lancers will play in the National Tournament held in Simsbury, Conn., March 30-April 3.

Gilmour earned the championship by first defeating the Youngstown Phantoms, 5-2. An overtime loss to the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets made Gilmour the No. 4 seed in the semifinals where they played the Cleveland Barons. Gilmour won that game, 4-2 to earn a trip to the finals against the Pittsburgh Hornets. The Hornets made it to the finals by defeating Columbus, 4-3 in overtime.

In the title game, Gilmour trailed 3-1 with less than six minutes to play. A Lancer rally allowed the blue and gray to tie the score and force an extra period. Lancer senior captain, Michael Phillips scored the game winner with just over a minute to go in the overtime period.

Gilmour will now compete with winners from 11 other districts throughout the nation for the U18 National title.
